What a thrill! We are about to start what will be 6 days of grand masterclasses, meetings, consulting and networking for all participants of the second edition of CinemaChile Market Lab, an activity organized by CinemaChile that looks to promote the development of film and television projects in Chile and also in the world.
This event of national focus can be followed online and will be hosted at the Pontifical Catholic University. “This will make it easier for screenwriters, filmmakers from all across Chile, and professionals from other countries to follow these training and learning instances,” says Carolina Acevedo, CinemaChile’s National Producer and coordinator of the activity.
The Open Call that was launched a few weeks ago attracted more than 40 people who wanted to participate in the event, with innovative ideas and very good projects. Of the total number of applicants, a shortlist of fourteen projects – nine feature films and five series– was made with international potential to be part of this exclusive CinemaChile competition, thanks to the support of ProChile’s Sectoral Brands and Creative Industries program.
Get to know the professional guests here
During these next 6 days you can live an unforgettable experience. Our team leading the social media will be covering the whole behind the scenes of the event so you don’t miss any details.
In addition, as we want to strengthen the audiovisual sector from the roots, we will also be accompanied by 11 students of the DAV of the Faculty of Communications of the UC, along with the support of the distribution company Prisma. They will be able to immerse themselves in all the processes that lead to producing a good film or television series.
The 6 script masterclasses to be hosted by the international expert Yolanda Barrasa, aims to support and prepare attendees from the root of their projects “This is the fundamental basis of how a series is structured or how a character is built,” says Yolanda.
Likewise, the other subjects addressed by our other speaker guests are: The positioning of the series: pitch, marketing and distribution by Angela Poblete and; Audience Design, international distribution for cinema, by Gabriela Sandoval and Alexandra Galvis.
The 14 pre-selected film and TV projects will receive individual and group coaching from international expert Yolanda Barrasa (script); Hernán Caffiero (series) and Gabriela Sandoval (film).
The Lab will focus on strengthening narrative structures, storylines, characters and scripts, and developing sales portfolios and strategies to launch projects to the international market (marketing, sales and international distribution), including the industry pitch.
During the last stage of this great event, the best film pitch and the best series pitch will be selected before a jury composed of 4 film professionals and 3 series professionals. They will have the mission to decide for a winner -in each category- to attend the Industry Club of the San Sebastian Film Festival in San Sebastian, and Iberseries Platino Industia, in Madrid and thus have the opportunity to present their project in the market (the award includes airfare and accreditation).
