Bestia made headlines for its historic Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short, proving once again that the boom of Chilean animation keeps reaching new heights.
At the Goya Awards, it was a documentary that got everyone talking, with Patricio Gúzman taking home Best Ibero-American Film, for “The Cordillera of Dreams”, the first doc ever to do so.
To honor these two amazing feats, we made special editions of our 5 STEPS series: one to honor the past, present and future of the Chilean animation industry, and the other taking a look at Guzman’s expansive 40-year career.

With his short Interference, which premiered at BAFICI, and has been at Toulouse, Vienna and Jihlava, the young director has managed to awaken the ghost of a police and communications case that went unnoticed in Chile for decades.
