As already mentioned, Chile’s participation in the Cannes Film Festival and its industry area, the Marché du Film 2023 promises a great national display.
A total of 27 national production companies – including 7 supported by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage– will seek to establish co-production alliances, distribution, financing and sales for an incredible number of projects at different stages of development.
To this great participation are also added the projects in the Fantastic Pavilion – Maquinitas Screening- , the Fantastic 7; the Showcase of Chilean documentaries in the Doc Corner -by Chiledoc- ; the Showcase of national short films in the Short Film Corner -organized by ChileShorts- Market Screenings of successful Chilean productions and co-production meetings organized by ProChile France.
In parallel to the festival also highlights the presence of Thomas Woodroffe’s Erratics in La Fabrique Cinéma, the presence of Claudia Huaiquimilla in Cannes Ecrans Junior with My brothers dream awake, along with Hashtag Santiago by Rodrigo Litorriaga who will be participating in Casa Cine Residency.
For its part, the CinemaChile sector brand will have the expected annual launch of the New Chilean Film Catalog and an onsite stand at the Palais des Festival where a promising agenda of meetings with leading members of the international industry will be held.

There will be 27 Production companies that will be working and looking for new partners for their projects. These new narratives condense a varied audiovisual offer from fiction, non-fiction, drama and also animation projects, which are in different stages of development and will be in search of financing, co-production, distribution and sales agents during the market.
Some of the projects will go hand in hand with well-known directors such as Alicia Scherson, Cristián Leighton, Sergio Castro San Martín or who have stormed with force as Manuela Martelli, or debutants like Ernesto Garrat, among others.
Among this large delegation attending the Cannes market, the largest in the world, stand out the 7 production companies supported by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, among which are: Clara Films, Errante, Juntos Films, Mesa Redonda Studio, Plant, Storyboard Media and Wood Productions.

CinemaChile -a sectoral brand created by ProChile and APCT- returns to the Marché. In this edition the sector brand will have an onsite stand with a renewed graphic proposal that hopes to surprise professionals in the industry.
In addition, the brand will have a major agenda of activities and meetings to expand the networks of Chilean professionals with international counterparts. This year, they will be held together with ProChile France, the German Film Federation, Brazil and Argentina.

But that’s not all, as we had already anticipated and for the 13° consecutive edition the New International Catalog of Chilean Cinema will be launched in the market. A carefully selected collection of 149 productions that arrives in Cannes with a promising sustainability proposal that you can also find on our website.
Cannes Docs, the documentary-oriented section of the Marché du Film, will once again feature activities dedicated to Chilean projects. Chiledoc will screen 4 projects in Docs-in-Progress Showcase that are in post-production stage and will be looking for distribution and sales agents.
In the shadow of the light by Ignacia Merino & Isabel Reyes ; Monguen (Life) by Antonio Caro Berezin ; El Menor by Mijael Bustos and Paula Rodríguez Sickert’s Relentless Memory will be the documentaries that will be participating in the screenings to be held on Sunday, May 21.
The support programme for the promotion of short films in Cannes, Short Film Corner, will bring together in this edition productions that will be showcased during May 23.
Video games continue to position strongly in audiovisual markets. In this edition Marché will integrate the successful section of Maquinitas (Ventana Sur) within its activities in the Fantastic Pavilion. There will be a showcase of games where proyecto.r.█.█. by Branko (Cabala Studio) will have a prototype for users to play.
Dead Enders by Tyler Walker & Fidel Ruiz-Healy, produced by Chilean Nicolás Alvo, will be participating in Fantastic 7 (21 May, Palais K, Palais des Festivals). A section within Marché du Film aimed at fostering talent within the fantastic genre industry and fostering its connection with potential business partners that brings together seven festivals around the world.
As each edition Chile has a place at the Market Screenings in Cannes. Attendees will be able to access during the festival and French market exclusive screenings of the award-winning film by Matías Bize The Punishment (Palace E – 21 and 22 May) and the successful feature by Maite Alberdi The Eternal Memory (Palais J – 21 May).
The Chilean delegation has also taken parallel spaces during Cannes. This is the case of Thomas Woodroffe’s Erratic Blocks, My brothers dream awake by Claudia Huaquimilla and Rodrigo Litorriaga’s Hashtag Santiago.
On the one hand, Thomas Woodroffe’s Erratic Blocks will be participating in La Fabrique Cinéma, a programme conceived in close collaboration with the Cannes Film Festival and the Marché du Film that supports young creators to present their project to the industry.
Meanwhile, Hashtag Santiago by Rodrigo Litorriaga will be part of Casa Cine, an international residency for screenwriters who will be able to present their projects to industry professionals at the Pavillon Les Cinémas du Monde at the Cannes Film Festival.
The great presence of Chileans in parallel sections is completed by Claudia Huaiquimilla, with My brothers dream awake, the award-winning film by the director will be in Cannes Ecrans Junior, a section chaired by L’association Cannes Cinéma and which stands out as a selection of films for young people aged +13, where the juries are also young people and university students.
