QUICK LOOK: VENTANA SUR 2023

November 24, 2023

With a prominent presence of the Chilean audiovisual industry in Ventana Sur, six talented national producers are preparing to participate on the other side of the mountain range backed by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of Chile.

These visionary representatives of established production companies stand as ambassadors of creativity and film quality in our country. In addition, their participation in Ventana Sur acquires a unique significance as it becomes the last opportunity of the year to present their captivating projects and wrap this 2023.

Learn who they are and their projects here!

Sebastian Gonzalez – Amilcar Films

His involvement in the audiovisual world begins with the production company Tercermundo, where he made various production and executive production works for documentary series such as Nuevo Mundo, pintura callejera en América Latina (2020) among others, as well as websites and video clips for various national artists.

He is currently a managing partner at Amilcar Films, venturing into directing with the short film No lo mires (2023) winner of the 48 hours film Santiago and Consagración, finalist in Filma Biobio of Cinelebu. He attends this edition of Ventana sur with his first film Si vas para Chile, a non-fiction feature film that is in post-production stage and will be in search of co-production

Our feature has been built with much effort and perseverance over the last two years, portraying a regional reality that is urgent to make visible, and that we believe will resonate universally. Ventana Sur presents great opportunities in this regard to publicize the project on the international scene. After being selected in FICViña Industria with a first cut, plus our participation in Ventana Sur, we hope to continue opening industry spaces to get the necessary stimuli and financing that will finish the film.

Isidora Fajardo – Cubho Audiovisual

Chilean audiovisual director and producer interested in projects that seek to work with the territory, exploring new technologies and formats to influence reality. She has produced interactive projects such as Flotando en la Talagante (2019) and Mujeres en Cuarentena (2021). She is also the director and producer of two short films, Largavista (2023) and Fresco Verano (2022). Currently working as the executive producer at CUBHO Audiovisual and part of the production team of Galgo Storytelling.

After her recent participation in Mip Cancun, she continues on her international route with El Salar de Kenchikka directed by Raimundo Bastidas & Pablo Cuturrufo. A fictional series in development and will be in search of funding.

Ventana Sur becomes the perfect market to close our year. We will be able to resume several conversations that we have been cultivating during this period and thus continue to empower our projects in portfolio.

Diego Pino – CangrejoFilms

Producer,  filmmaker and executive director of the Chilean Documentary Corporation CCDoc. Founder of the company CangrejoFilms focused mainly on filmmaking. His films have been selected in important international markets and festivals such as IDFA, Visions du Réel, DokLeipzig, Karlovy Vary Film Festival, BAFICI, among others.

He arrives in the Argentine market with Oasis, a non-fiction feature film directed by Tamara Uribe and Felipe Morgado, producer by MAFI Foundation. The film is in post-production stage and will be in search of sales agents.

For us to participate in Ventana Sur is extremely strategic, as we are looking for Argentinean and Latin American partners for a fictional project. We think it is essential to participate in the Proyecta section, it generates visibility, but above all it connects us directly with industry representatives who can be key to the project.

Daniela Olivares – La Alborada Films

During her career she has been executive producer of short films such as Hijo (2015); Lecciones de Vuelo (2017), and La Corteza de mi abuela (2017). In addition to participating in the short fiction film “El olor de las flores” from the general production role and in Diablada (2021) and Submerged (2020) as a production assistant. She is currently working in three projects where two of them will be her first feature films as an executive producer.

For this edition of Ventana Sur she comes with Ancestras, a nonfiction series directed by Eva Vera Cuadra, which is currently in pre-production and will be in search of sales agents.

Participating in Ventana Sur is the first opportunity for me, as an emerging producer, and for the project “ANCESTRAS” to be part of an international meeting where we can test the business possibilities of the documentary series with other Latin American countries and the world.

Carlos Ulisse – Dinogorila Creative Lab

His career in art began at the age of 14 when he started his studies in popular music and instrumentation,  tools that have served him to tell stories with valuable content to children and families, and running a creative laboratory where different disciplines are mixed to deliver valuable messages in entertaining and art-filled formats.

After a great success, he arrives  in Ventana Sur with the second season of Locos Lab, an animated series directed by Isabel Rosemblatt , which is already in production and will be in search of co-producers.

It’s my first time in this market and I think it’s a good opportunity to get some funding for two projects that are in production for their second seasons, also to look and meet with other actors from the world of Latin American animation, know where they are, look at projects to support and enjoy animation at the end of the world.

Bernardita Ojeda – Pájaro

Creator of the series Clarita, the first animated series produced in Chile broadcasted by TVN. Her works also include the tv shows Helados, Kocorocó and Hostal Morrison; the latter broadcasted throughout Latin America by Cartoon Network. She is currently director of the company Pájaro, a content and animation company based in Santiago de Chile. Her latest work is the animated series Petit, based on the book “Petit, The Monster” by the prominent Argentine illustrator Isol.

Lands in Ventana Sur with her new animated feature Lucila, a project produced by María Elena Wood who will also be participating in Animation! Pitching Sessions Feature films.

Having been selected for the Animation! pitching sessions in Ventana Sur is a privilege and a great opportunity. For the first time Lucila will be presented to the audiovisual world and the challenge is to find in this large market the best partners to make this family animation film a reality.
