GOLDEN YEAR : PEDRO PASCAL, A CHILEAN TALENT THAT DAZZLES THE WORLD

Shocking, versatile and dazzling has been Pedro Pascal’s career over the last year. The new face of Hollywood has not gone unnoticed and after his latest roles in The Last of Us and The Mandalorian, the world is still waiting for his big golden year.

His multifaceted talent returns to the screen, now at the renowned Cannes Film Festival under the direction of Pedro Almodovar, the prominent Spanish director who marks a milestone for Chile by having a national actor in his cast for the first time.

A PROMISING FUTURE

 

Like many Chileans political circumstances forced him to move with his family, (after living in Denmark) to New York in 1993, and it was in the Big Apple where his love for acting led him to enroll in the Tisch School of the Arts.

His first opportunities came through television and theater, with series such as Buffy, the Vampire Slayer (1999); Touched by an Angel (2000) and NYPD Blue (2001).

With these roles Pedro Pascal began to position himself as one of the most influential Chilean actors in North America, where his multiple interpretations, both in television and cinema reached 24 roles from 1999 to 2013, Standing out in productions such as: Sisters (2005); Law and Order (2006-2013); The Good Wife (2009-2011); Charlie’s Angels (2011); CSI (2012) and Homeland (2013) among others.

 

 

RATING THAT OPENS FRONTIERS

 

In June 2013 Pedro Pascal made one of the biggest jumps in his career with his signing for Game of Thrones. The actor was hired to play Oberyn Martell in the fourth season of the series.

His performance in the HBO series was one of the most memorable and spectacular works of fiction. This project opened the doors to Hollywood, and in 2015 he became one of the protagonists of Narcos, the popular Netflix series about the life of Pablo Escobar where he plays DEA agent Javier Peña.

His career continued to rise and he returned to films in September 2017 with the release of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, a blockbuster directed by Matthew Vaughn that opened the way for him to continue playing 14 other characters during the last few years.

 

THE REPRESENTATIVE OF US  

There is no doubt that Pedro Pascal has become one of the most important Chilean faces in American cinema and television and also an icon worldwide.

Other iconic roles include Din Djarin in The Mandalorian (2019-present) where he was nominated for the Critics’ Choice Super Award for Best Actor in a science fiction/fantasy series (2021).

The admiration and growing “Pascalmania” grew again with The Last of Us, as the series is one of the most ambitious video game adaptations ever distributed. Released on HBO Max in January 2023, the actor quickly conquered with his starring role as Joel Miller, a man who becomes a bloodthirsty smuggler after the death of his daughter

 

 

 

PASCALMANIA 

The success of Pedro in Hollywood has unleashed the “Pascalmania” so much that in the art gallery Leopardo Leopardi -Spain- they made an art exhibition dedicated entirely to the figure of the Chilean actor .

In March, international publications (media and social media) on Pedro Pascal reached 210,000, 107% according to the metrics handled by the Marca Chile Foundation, which is responsible for promoting the country worldwide. And as if this were not enough, The Rake magazine – one of the most important luxury magazines in the world- baptized him as the new prince of America.

His expansive career that stands out even more with The Mandalorian and The Last Of Us, has not only been present in television and cinema, He also awoke great interest when he participated in a competition between Chilean and American food on the YouTube channel LADBible TV with actor and producer Jon Favreau.

 

AN UNFORGETTABLE BREAKTHROUGH! FIRST CHILEAN TO WORK WITH ALMODÓVAR

Pedro Pascal today surprises and makes the country proud by starring alongside Ethan Hawke in Strange Way of Life, a western directed by the legendary director Pedro Almodóvar.

The 30-minute film will have its world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in the Official Selection, out of competition.  For the first time a Chilean actor appears in the cast of the great Spanish director. The short is Almodóvar’s second film in English, his previous foray was The Human Voice starring the British Tilda Swinton.

Strange way of life, will be released in cinemas in Spain on May 26 and in Latin America will be distributed by MUBI.
