CINEMACHILE-With one Chilean film in competition, over 100 minutes of screenings, five filmmakers, and the 20th anniversary of ACORCH is participating CINEMACHILE this year of the 34th International Short Film Festival of Clermont-Ferrand, one of the most important in the world.
The shortfilm “TITANS”, by Chilean director Edison Cajas, makes up the official selection of films participating this year in the International Competition of this festival, which takes place between January 27 and February 4 at the french city of Clermont-Ferrand.
The rest of the CINEMACHILE commission is made up by Ricardo Nuñez and his short film “ALMA“; as well as René Castillo, director of HUMBOLDT“, an animated film. Both movies will have their own screenings during the film market parallel to the festival. Also joining the commission is Luciano Martínez Bogdanovic, president of the Chilean Association of Short Filmmakers (ACORCH), and the CINEMACHILE representative and filmmaker, Luis Román.
CHILEAN SHORTFILMS
Essential part of the Chilean participation in Clermont-Ferrand is the official screening of over 100 minutes of shortfilms, which will be exhibited during the market. Among the films conforming this screening is “HUMBOLDT” (Dir. René Castillo y Nicolás Cortes); “EXISTENCE” (Dir. Enzo Cortesi); “VAGUES NOIRES” (Dir. Geraldine Guardia); “WHITE PETALS” (Dir. Raúl Cruz Gabe); “GUIDING SIGHTS” (Dir. Katherina Harder); y “THE MAN THAT WAS AMONG THE PEOPLE” (Dir. Manuel Loyola Bahrs) .
Also conforming the screening is the awarded short film “THE SHOWER”, by María José San Martin, winner of the DAAD Short Film Prize at the Berlinale 2011; “AMBIENTE FAMILIAR” (Dir. Carlos Leiva), Third Prize School Film Competition Clermont-Ferrand 2011).
ANNIVERSARY
The Association of Chilean Short Filmmakers (ACORCH) is one of the oldest of its kind in South America and will celebrate its 20th Anniversary on February 2 in the context of Clermont-Ferrand. The event will be hosted by Luciano Martínez Bogdanovic, president of the organization.
“Being in Clermont-Ferrand for the anniversary of our organization is an important highlight for ACORCH during its 20th birthday. This is also a very important event for us in terms of contacts and experiences to nurture our objective of inaugurating on december 2012 the first shortfilm market in Chile, which will offer an interesting catalog of fresh South American shortfilms”, said Martínez.
