Chilean Movie and TV Industry Strengthens Cooperation Bonds with Latin America in Colombia

***Cinema Chile visited Colombia from August 24-26 as part of an official committee organized by ProChile in order to strengthen the exportation of Chilean services and capitalize the opportunities offered by the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Colombia.

To position the Chilean movie and TV industry on an international level is the main objective of Cinema Chile, a public and private organization that inaugurated its Latin American launch during their visit to Colombia, as part of its strategy of international diffusion of the Chilean expertise in audiovisual services.

The Chilean team formed part of an official committee organized by Pro Chile in order to strengthen business relationships between both countries and show its exportable offer of services. The committee was composed of a total of 45 firms of different sectors like IT, design and publicity, retail support, audiovisual services and environmental services among others, all of them visiting Colombia from August 24-26 to form part of business meetings.

In this context, Cinema Chile executed its official launch in Latin America, a pending step after the European inauguration during the Cannes and Berlin film festivals. As part of this visit, the film NAVIDAD, from director Sebastian Lelio, was screened after a brief presentation from supporting actress, Alicia Luz Rodriguez.

GROWING INDUSTRY

“The Chilean audiovisual sector has maximized its possibilities on a local level,  so in order to keep growing we have to globalize our  services and know how. That’s why we have all organized under the same international brand to offer our production services to foreign markets”, expressed Bruno Bettati, president and director of Association of Movie and TV Producers (APCT for it’s Spanish letters).

Thanks to these strategies, its natural diversity of landscapes, stable political and financial system, as well as it’s healthy business climate and quality professionals, the Chilean audiovisual industry has achieved a sustained growth. Over the last decade, more than 100 movies, 40 shortfilms and 90 documentaries have been produced; currently there are over 33 centers for technical specialization in all areas of the audiovisual industry, as well as more than 100 production companies, many of them beginning their international expansion.
