Cristián Jiménez' "Optical Ilussions" will be present at Marché Du Film
Cannes, May 10, 2010 – Chilean Cinema will step up its European presence at Cannes with a total of 26 productions from 2010 at the Marché du Film. In a program including several strong selections from Latin America, Chile will be represented in the festival’s Official Selection by Patricio Guzman’s latest film NOSTALGIA DE LA LUZ (out of competition) and Marialy Rivas’s BLOKES (short film competition).
Following Cinema Chile’s highly successful efforts at Berlin’s EFM, a delegation of 34 directors, producers and industry representatives will come to Cannes and will be out in force at the Cinema Chile market stand (Palais 01 – 17.02-19.01).
The cinema industry infrastructure and the location of Chile’s Valdivia festival largely escaped the destruction wreaked by the February earthquake, and Chile’s film industry continues to grow at an ever faster pace: a total of 23 projects by 36 producers are slated for this year’s Producers Network. Additionally, there will be screenings of 20 short films from the Centro Arte Alameda in Chile’s capital Santiago.
Highlights of Cinema Chile’s market program include industry screenings of some exciting new productions: Francesca Fuenzalida’s new film LA ESPERA/EXPECTING, (produced by Bruno Chedufau, world sales ONDAMAX, May 18, 19:30, Gray 4) and Cristián Jiménez’ ILLUSIONES OPTICAS (producer Bruno Bettati, world sales Films Boutique, May 19, 11:30, Gray 2).
